wolfsbane is to werewolves as catnip is to cats

Would like to point out that even though Rahne Sinclair is Catholic in the New Mutants movie, she's Protestant in the comics (to support this: Reverend isn't a Catholic position, and she's raised by Rev. Craig). The only reason she doesn't immediately fall under WASP is because she's ambiguously Scottish, and therefore may not be Anglo-Saxon. In fact, the town she's from (Ullapool) is in Northern Scotland, and Anglo-Saxons were from the lowlands, so she probably doesn't fit the general definition, but might be categorized that way. This also means, that if she were to speak another language based on location, it would be Scottish Gaelic rather than Scots.

I have (in light of my current writing flow) decided to create and post the first supplementary story of "Deadpool's epic Game of Thrones Chatfic." Gwenpool runs into "Redheaded Arya Stark" and her blonde friend, and the story will be what inspires Wade to create his chat.

aaaand here’s the bastard antagonist of Le Loup! This is Terrance Rex Morrison, local seedy loan shark and werebat who has caught word of a local boxer apart of WVBA who has recently has become a werewolf. Perfect.

Rex isn’t exactly the nicest person, he’s snobby and mean. Every time you talk to him, he always has this malicious yet calm attitude to him. He’ll do anything to make money, and that means manipulating as many people as possible. It’s been a few years since he first transformed into his bat form. He had been kept by scientists for experimental cures for a few years, making him rather resentful of people. He was released when they realized that making a cure would be too cost-heavy.

Afterwards, Rex had escaped to the big apple in search of furthering research to help himself and others. Over time however…he began to feel himself gaining control over his creature form the more the transformations happened. He began to get delusional,believing that his situation was more of a blessing than a curse. Through his research, he discovered a plant that can temporarily control lycanthropy: Monkshood, also known as Wolfsbane.

Eventually, he gets to meet the so-called “new guy.” A guy named Joseph, a meek guy from France. Calls himself “Glass Joe.” Joe’s afraid of himself, and he doesn’t blame him, he used to be afraid too. He introduces Joe to Monkshood, Rex tells him it’ll solve all his problems. He’ll just need a…small fee. It’s not cheap to raise all these flowers, yknow?

What Rex neglects to tell Joe, however, is that Wolfsbane can make transformations and the beastly behaviors of lycanthropy worse if you stop taking it. Of course, that’s his business method, afterall. When Joe learns this, it’s already too late.

Eventually they get to have a… one vs one discussion about this.

I’m starting to have some doubts about my writing abilities, so, while I’m still working on the art for my comic, I’m also designing some more stickers. This one’s partially based on the use of wolfsbane as a treatment for lycanthropy. Anyway, critique is always welcome, and I hope you all have a nice day!

The flowers were a pain in the ass to do but I think they turned out ok

You took the softness of my snow and left only the cold.

You took the music of my ice and left it blankly stagnant.

It's the only colour,

those deep red poppies and indigo aconite trickling down my cheeks, released by the frozen tears I've cried over all your thoughts untold.

This reference were included in our Dorian's story "Nec Deus Intersit" which you can find on... (unexpected move, lol) Dorian!

Nota Bene: the flowers in his hands is 'Aconitum napellus' or Wolfsbane, or Aconytes. Aconite is a poisonous flower which is canonically Julian's favourite. There's no mentions in the plot of the Arcana Game, but in the our story this plant plays a pretty big role.

Due to its properties (as known as "the Queen of Poisons" ), wolfsbane was associated with the darkest pages of human history and mythology.

"Ancient mythology suggested that Hecate, goddess of magic and spells, invented wolfsbane for her witchcraft. An alternate story insists that the poison came from the slobbering of three-headed Cerberus, the dog protector of the underworld.

Wherever wolfsbane came from, it was much used. Athena reportedly employed it to transform Arachne into a spider, and it was Medea’s poison of choice to knock off Theseus.

Shakespeare called wolfsbane a “venom of suggestion” to break up relationships. More recently, in Game of Thrones, it was complicit in an assassination. Romans favored the herb as a method of execution and Greeks forced senile seniors to use it for involuntary euthanasia. Both Socrates and Alexander the Great might have been victims of this plant’s poison; forget what you heard about hemlock. A very dark history indeed.

Usage can also lead to lycanthropy. the belief that one can turn into an animal and, more specifically, a wolf or werewolf. This shape-shifting theory is one accounting for the name wolfsbane, as is the thought that it can kill both of those creatures.

Biologically, wolfsbane works as a neuro- and cardiotoxin. Its effects resemble those of rabies and it doesn’t take much, or long, to prove fatal. For this reason, wolfsbane has been used not only on people but also for hunting, by treating arrow tips with the plant material such as its sap or powdered root."

I’ve done some more Harry Potter badge designs. I’ve done the wolfsbane potion that Remus lupine used as well as skele-gro and even veritaserum. Im going to make them into a badge set with the other three I’ve done and I’m super happy with how they turned out. 

If Snape was a better person...

…he would have called out and reminded Lupin of the wolfsbane potion when he saw Lupin rush out out of Hogwarts. Even at the Shrieking Shack, he should have thrust the potion at Lupin out of sheer self preservation, because he couldn’t have been sure he (and the three students and the outlaw) could have made it back to Hogwarts before a transformed Lupin caught up to them.
