by only holding on the other's wrist…it symbolizes that they were so close to getting there if only they had been more honest to each other???

and that grabbing symbolizes both of them forcing their respective idealogies on each other and that they would've been so close to a compromise and to reaching better solutions if they just revealed their own truths?

“You’re leaving.”

“Meredith—” she sighs. “Not here, please.”

“Fine,” she says, clipped.

Meredith drags her into a supply closet. “You were just going to leave without telling me! That’s not— It’s not fair, Addison.”

“I know.”

Meredith is quiet, leans a hand against the racks, bracing herself. “What does L.A. have that I don’t?” 

Addison throws her hands up in defeat. “It’s not that simple—”

“Then tell me.”

“You kissed me, Meredith!” she says, harsh. Voice fraying. 

Meredith remembers two weeks ago, unsteady and unsure. Dragging Addison into an on-call room. She hadn’t planned on it. Reaching up and pulling Addison’s lips to her own. Soft and full. 

“You kissed me back—” Meredith hurls at her. Then softer, “I wouldn’t’ve done it if I’d known.”

“Meredith,” Addison shakes her head, runs her fingers through her hair. “I’m not leaving because of you.”

Meredith feels disappointment, sharp and acute, blooming in her sternum. An awful, ugly part of her wishes Addison wanted to leave because of her. At least then it would have mattered. 

“Then why, Addison?”

“It’s too much, being here.” Addison pauses, gathers herself. “I walk around and all I see are ghosts. I can’t live like this, Meredith!”

Meredith hates how small her voice sounds, “But what about me?”

Addison’s face hardens. “What about you?” She laughs incredulously. “You’ll go back to your life here, with your boyfriend, and everyone else. This. Us,” she pauses, gesturing to the space between them. “Was just something you used to fill the void when you were alone and suicidal.”

Meredith flinches away. “You don’t get to do that—” she says, angry. “You don’t get to use that as an excuse to question my judgment every time I make a choice you don’t like!” 

“You don’t want me, Meredith—”

Meredith cuts her off, “Is that why you kissed me back? Because you were scared I was going to—”

“Don’t.” Addison deflates, “No, Meredith. You know that’s not why.”

“Say it, Addison.”

“I have nothing more to say. I don’t owe you anything.” Addison turns, reaches for the door. 

Desperate, Meredith grabs her arm. “We were friends, or— Or something before that—”

Addison wrenches her arm away, pivots, hair whipping around as she faces Meredith. “No! No Meredith, we were nothing.” 

Meredith recoils as if she’s been slapped. “I—'' I hate you, it forms heavy on the tip of her tongue but she can't say it. 

Addison seems to realize her mistake. “Meredith, I’m—”

“Save it.”

“Meredith, look at me.” Against her better judgment, Meredith does. “I’m sorry, okay? I’m sorry.” 

Meredith feels a tear roll down her cheek. Gently, Addison brushes it away with her thumb. Her hand lingers, fingers splaying across Meredith’s cheek. Addison leans forward, tipping Meredith’s chin so she can feel Addison’s breath on her lips. Addison kisses her, tender. Meredith sinks into it. Her lips are warm and soft, and for a second Meredith believes it’s going to be okay.

Then lightly, Meredith pushes at Addison’s shoulder, steps away from her. 

“Goodbye, Addison. I hope— I hope L.A. works out for you.” Meredith leaves Addison in the supply closet, soft eyes and parted lips.

True to her word, Addison is gone the next morning.

Snowpiercer Smackdown : Tail Section vs. Front Section Side note: I just learned that the film distributor of "Snowpiercer" for the Philippines is NOT going to be The Weinstein Company, but rather Parkit Films--who will also be handling the release of director Bong Joon-Ho's visionary dystopian sci-fi epic in Malaysia. Which basically means I will definitely be seeing the ORIGINAL UNEDITED VERSION of "Snowpiercer" as opposed to the potential Harvey Scissorhands cut which will likely be serviced to the US, UK, and other English-speaking territories. Excuse me while I proceed to uncontrollably shake and cry with joy at this bit of good news.

TILDA SWINTON AS THE THIRTEENTH IN THE TARDIS. I WILL ACCEPT NOTHING LESS. And she basically looks like David Bowie who happens to be Ziggy Stardust, so this makes perfect fucking sense. OMFG THIS NEEDS TO HAPPEN.

So now that reports have surfaced that Joseph Gordon-Levitt is going to direct and star in an adaptation of Neil Gaiman's "Sandman" series, I couldn't help but picture these actors and actresses as the ideal representation of who would portray the Endless for me. Joseph Gordon-Levitt as DESTINY "The oldest of the Endless, Destiny appears as a blind man dressed in grey or brown robes, carrying a large book, the Cosmic Log. The book is chained to him, or he is chained to the book, and within the book is written the entire sum of existence, past, present and future. Destiny seems the most possessed by his function and responsibilities of any of the Endless. He rarely demonstrates much personality. His sigil is his book." Jennifer Lawrence as DEATH "Death appears as a spunky, attractive, level-headed young Goth woman. She wears a silver ankh (representing the afterlife) and has a marking similar to an Eye of Horus around her right eye. She prefers to dress and act casually, and is on better terms with Dream than any of the other Endless. Her sigil is the ankh." Tom Hiddleston as DREAM "Dream's usual appearance is as a tall, pale man with wild dark blue-black hair. He dresses in a shapeless cloak of 'night' with 'flames dancing in its folds'. Elle Fanning as DELIRIUM "The youngest of the Endless, Delirium appears as a young girl whose form changes the most frequently of any of the Endless, based on the random fluctuations of her temperament. She has wild multicolored hair and eccentric, mismatched clothes. Her only permanent physical characteristic is that one of her eyes is emerald green (usually the right side) and the other pale blue with silver flecks (usually the left side), but even those sometimes switch between left and right. She was once known as 'Delight', but some traumatic event caused her to change into her current role. Her sigil is an abstract, shapeless blob of colors."

The original unedited version of "Snowpiercer" finally premiered in the Philippines and I could not be any happier about this! Saw the film and it more than exceeded my already high expectations despite me already knowing the plot from my other friends around the world who saw it before me. That being said, I highly guarantee you should all watch this extraordinary film in its full and intact version.

Film Review : Snowpiercer (Or Should I Say, SLAYPIERCER!)

CRYING SO HARD RIGHT NOW AT THE SHEER BEAUTY AND TRUTH OF THIS META ANALYSIS LIKE OMFG MY FEELS. </3

Hope These three major scenes show how hope is important in the movie. Human beings have always, and always will be driven by hope. When Tanya dies, Curtis promises they will find Timmy. I’m not even sure he believes it himself, but when Tanya says “I know”, it’s almost certain she knows it will never happen. She has seen everyone dying around them, she knows Andrew never got to see his son again so she doesn’t believe a word of it. No, they won’t find Timmy. But she needs to believe it, she needs to be at peace when she dies. And when she says “Thank you”, she doesn’t thank him for finding Timmy, or saving their lives, because clearly Curtis didn’t,  but for giving them all tail-sectioners something they hadn’t had in 18 years: hope. She’s not dying with her son in her arms but with hope. Yes, she’s dying but she didn’t spend her last days as an exploited sheep. She died believing for a short while that another life was possible. That’s why she apparently thanks him for nothing. He didn’t give her a good life, resources, food or goods, he gave her even more.

The second scene shows how when he loses hope, Curtis loses everything. He ran from the tail to the Front because he thought he had absolutely nothing to lose, and sure, he owned nothing, so it seemed logical. But the very moment he realizes he has lost his people and most importantly, lost Gilliam, it’s over for him. Not Gilliam as a human being -he was already half-dead-, but as a father figure, a role model, an example. The moment Curtis realizes Gilliam is dirty, when he understands that yes Wilford knew Gilliam for real, it’s like he’s learning his God is evil. Everything he had, Gilliam’s support, his beliefs, his certitudes, everything is washed away by this little sentence. He’s got no one to look up to anymore. If even the holy figure of Gilliam was rotten, he doesn’t know what to fight for anymore. It’s clearly visible in the second gif, when he’s inside the Engine. Alone. All alone for the first time in eighteen years. What does he do? He looks behind himself, looks for help. Such loneliness is overwhelming. He knows everybody he loved and cared about is dead, the only one still alive is Nam who never really respected him, called him a ‘tail-section prick’. And in a moment when he’s supposed to think about what he’s gonna do now he’s got no one to guide him -no one but Wilford. Everything he thought he knew was fake, everything he thought was right is wrong. And this is the face of a man who lost everything he had: a little bit of hope. This is why Curtis is about to go dark and take Wilford’s place, until he sees Timmy and remember what he was fighting for in the first place. What Tanya was fighting for. Last but not least, the final scene is full of hope despite its sadness. The kids might die, very soon, but they realize that all the Front section lies weren’t true. The Engine stopped and they didn’t freeze and die. They can even remove their hoods, so yes it’s super cold but not dying cold. There’s even life! Dangerous life, of course, but life. The kids might die soon, it’s probable, but it was worth it because they’ll be free for a while. They will believe that another life is possible, believe it on their own, not because Wilford lied to them.

So my relationship with food for my entire life is perfectly expressed by this flawless Oscar-winning short film from Disney Animation.
