Y'all I actually wrote some more of this outline! Finally onto the final part which means I need to settle whether or not I want this story to be a tragedy

I'm back home and wow, did not do nearly as much writing as I thought I would. HOWEVER, I think I decided on making this story learn more towards tragedy. Am I surprised? No.

Creative Writing

image

Creative Writing. Creating worlds with our fingers and bringing characters to life with just our imagination.

However, creative writing it’s not a term everyone is familiarized with—so let’s see what this is about. According to the Cambridge Dictionary, the definition of Creative Writing is:

“The activity of writing stories, poetry, etc., or the stories, poems, etc. that are written.”

Now, how does creative writing differ from other types of writing?

The most remarkable difference lies in the content.

Creative writing could also be broadly defined as the pursuit of artistic ends through the written word—like fiction, non-fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction, prose poem and memoir. However, it does not include any writing that goes inside the bounds of a normal professional writing like academic, journalistic or technical forms of literature.

In other words, this is the kind of writing that explores the imagination and creativity of a writer. But creative writing is so much more than we may actually think.

The possibilities for the form that a writing and its message may take are infinite. And so can be your writing. As a creative writer, it’s important to develop your own toolbox of strategies, skills and styles that are going to define your writing and make it stand out.

However, learning to write is not formulaic, like Larry Brooks establishes in the first pages of his book Story Engineering, and so is the process of writing in general. It’s not like learning how to build a machine or how to use a specific tool like a screwdriver. There are many books that explain and help you to write a book, for example, Stephen King’s On Writing or Lisa Cron’s Story Genius, but this is a process that’s learnt through practice, success and failure.

An analogy for this process can be learning how to cook. When you learn for the first time how to cook, it could have been through three possible ways: you were taught by someone else, learnt it from a book recipe or just mixed the ingredients together in an attempt to make something from memory. Your first tries aren’t going to be the best ones (unless you’re really lucky or meticulous) and that’s something to be expected, but with practice you can make it taste fine! But then, there’s a phase when you try to make it taste different, you experiment with other ingredients and have your own homemade recipe.

Creative writing is to show emotions, to show emotions or to tell a story. Citing again the Cambridge Dictionary, a story is defined as: “a description, either true or imagined, of a connected series of events.”

But there are vast ways to define what is a story.

“Story is character. Story is conflict.Story is narrative tension. Story is thematic resonance. Story is plot.” (Larry Books, Story Engineering)

“A story is first of all a chain of events that begins at one place and ends at another “without any essential interruption.” (Randall Jarrell)

Writing is not an easy task that’s done in a day or in a few weeks. It takes dedication and effort. But it’s something everyone can do if they propose it to themselves. The reasons to write are so diverse; they go from simple enjoyment to do it for money! But it’s important to know what you are doing.

The most important things you could take into account if you are going to start creative writing are:

Motivation (or why)

Why do you want to write? For fun? To put into words the dream you had last night? Or do you want to make money with your creativity?

Of course there can be so much into motivation, but the thing lies in knowing the reason why you want to do it. Writing is a way to convey or feelings and dreams, it’s a place where we have total control on, but think it thoroughly.

Literary Genre(s) (or what)

Do you want to write a novel, a poem, or a memoir? Romance, drama or historical fiction?

There are so many things you could write about. This point is closely related to the previous one, and it’s important to have it clear as day, because both will motivate you to write!

Visualize yourself (imagine)

Do you see yourself writing? Sitting in front of a desk or laying in your bed with the computer? Visualizing yourself it’s part of the process; imagining yourself doing it before actually doing it.

It’s never too early nor too late to start learning and writing! Its always up to you when or how to begin.

A/N: I hope this post helped you! Please, reblog, kudo or comment if you can! It motivates me to keep writing articles. Thank you! (❁´◡`❁)

Writing Prompt:

Your journey has left you exhausted, dragging your feet with every step. After countless battles won and lost, broken and bloody, you finally found it. The last living dragon ever. Only it's smaller than you expected.

Idk who else needs to hear this but--

Your WIP isn't gonna write itself.

You should do some writing in it, no one else can create what you can. No two pieces of writing are the same, even with concepts and tropes being the same. It's in your individuality that makes your world unique. And no one else can do it but you.

So write

pls explain the delefaye 🙏

Thank you so much for your question! I'd love to explain the Delefaye for you :)

What are the Delefaye?

The Delefaye are a mysterious group of eight individuals who live just outside the three districts: Roassis, Soris, and Avitou. These eight individuals claim to be the founders of the districts and the creators of all known to man. Visiting once every lifetime and appearing in no visual media, it is unknown if the eight Delefaye are always the same or just different individuals acting under the same name. The Delefaye come bearing news of prophecies and requests that never seem to end the way most would expect.

Who Are The Delefaye?

The Delefaye consists of Vassago, Leviathneer, Enzophilius, Marilyness, Freydarli, Aeverie, Vesselyn, and Noralyn. Each of the Delefaye represent a mix of tangible and intangible things, adding to the disbelief surrounding if they are truly gods or a group of liars.

Vassago The Valiant, the one most well known for visiting the districts, is believed to have founded the Delefaye or at least to have pathed the way for creation. Representing Charisma, Pyromania/Fire, Treasure, Abundance, Chaos, and Love, he's quite the character.

Freydarli, the delefaye of Childhood Wonder, Imagination, Optimism, Trust, Compassion, and Forgiveness is arguably the most beloved by the district's people. She's never been seen visiting the three districts since standing with them to announce her status as a Delefaye but the district's hope to see her again one day.

Vesselyn, the delefaye of Forests, Nature, Serenity, Adventure, Creation, Discovery, and Luck is best well known for his relationship with Freydarli. Hiding outside of the districts, Vesselyn is also not one to visit. However, he's made a few appearances over history when new planets have been created.

Enzophilius is the Delefaye that is often seen the most accompanying Vassago with every appearance. Being the Delefaye of Virtue, Envy, Fidelity, Ice/Snow, Art,  Protection,  and Prudence, it's believed that Enzophilius does not particularly enjoy the world he's created and merely appears with the intention of cleaning up after Vassago and offering clarity on prophesies.

Marilyness, despite being the Delefaye of Time, Music, Dance,  Affection, Rivalry, Poetry, and Insanity has often shown to be one of the more serious down ones out of the eight. She appears only to oversee Festivals or assist Enzophilius in cleaning up whatever mess the others have created.

Aeverie, the delefaye of Flight, Astrology, Power/Force, Death, Selfishness and Humility she makes a force to be reckoned with. The creator of the only form of space travel used and the master of technology Aeverie is believed by many to be the most useful out of the eight Delefaye.

Noralyn, the delefaye of Anger, Light, Conscientiousness, Justice, Heroism and Mountains is the most mysterious out of the eight. Never making a physical appearance in any of the history books it's unsure if she even exists sometimes. Best well known for being the twin sister of Vesselyn it's often questioned if she's still a member of the Delefaye.

Leviathneer, the delefaye representing Intelligence, Extraterrestrial Vastness, Water, Universal Problems, Preciseness is often seen alongside VassagoEnzophilius when visiting the districts. It is believed that while Leviathneer holds a strong brotherly bond with Vassago, his bond with Enzophilius is slim, leaving the two often disagreeing.

dead on the street

I severely dread grocery shopping. It reminds me of how I am a living being that must take care of itself. Even when my mind is clear as can be (which, frankly, isn't very), grocery shopping generates so many useless thoughts that don't stop bouncing around my skull like pissed off ping pong balls. That's too many calories. That's not enough protein. You can't justify that much money, you'll never even eat it. That expires in less than two weeks, it'll kill you. Those people just watched you stare at sliced cheese for five and a half minutes. Why don't you just get the same thing as always? You're sick of it already? Of course you are. Don't get that, you won't even cook it. You hate cooking. No, you won't cook it, and you know that. You're too lazy. No chips. No chocolate. You can't spend $6 on a gallon of iced coffee, but you can spend $10 a day each morning at Dunkin'. No, you won't eat that. Go ahead, put it in your basket, it'll sit in the fridge for the next eight months. And so on.

I left Target with less money and somehow even less confidence. A wave of utter upset hit me as I sat in my car. But drive I must.

The drive down a smooth road rimmed with foliage and the sound of my current favorite songs wash away the upset for a few minutes. Up ahead on the bend, I see a bird flutter down from the greenery, and swoop under the car about 30 yards ahead of me. The car does not break or swerve, as they probably didn't even see it. But then the car passed, and left behind was the bird. Belly-up. Flapping its wings but getting nowhere. Suddenly, seconds turned to minutes. There were no oncoming cars, so I respectfully drove around the victim. I moved back to the right side of the road, and slowed, looking wide-eyed into my rear-view mirror. There it was, still laying on its back, flapping its wings. I slowed more, and started to pull off the road. But within seconds, I made the decision not to stop.

I continued driving. In just one second, I thought of all my options. If I pull off, it might be dangerous for me. I'm clumsy, and I don't trust other drivers not to hit me. If I picked it up, I couldn't take it home. I'd want to. But there's nothing there for the bird, its late in the evening, and I can't afford a vet bill, and I have no idea how to care for it. I could put it on the side of the road. But it's already got one wing in the grave. The chances of a predator coming for it are higher than ever. If it doesn't die from the complications of the impact, a larger animal is sure to eat it. And I feared I would end up sitting on the side of the road with this bird for the rest of its life. I would, if I could. If I could abandon all reason I'd run off with the bird, heal it, and live in the woods with it. But I'm going 40 miles per hour down a two lane road with no shoulder or side walk. So I keep driving.

And to think, I get so worked up about grocery shopping. If that bird's life was so precious, I would have helped it. If my life weren't so precious, I'd leave it. If we were equals, there would be no hypotheticals. Hours later, I'm still wondering who's life is worth more: a robin that was hit by a car, or a 21-year-old teenager that can't figure out how to take care of herself.

Laser Tag - Adam Stanheight / Submissive Reader

A/N there was a prompt online that inspired this. I wanted to write two, one with a sub reader and one with a dom reader. Both are written and finished, but the dominant one will be posted tmrw to give this one some time to be seen first. Thank you and please enjoy.

-

You stood in the dark room tensely. The band around your head was tight, the watch around your wrist was itchy, and the laser gun was heavy in your hands. Nervousness was churning in your stomach. You were playing a game of laser tag with Adam Stanheight. It seemed a little odd, though. Instead of asking him out, you just sorta… took him here…

You had never been good with words. You simply said, “Let's play laser tag,” and proceeded to take him to the nearest game. He was very comfortable with this. He was also the kind of person that easily went-with-the-flow. You weren’t even sure what brought up the subject of laser tag, all you knew was that you were here right now.

“So, the headband displays your lives to other players, and lets you know when you’ve been shot.” you muttered to yourself. “The watch displays your lives to yourself. And the laser gun is for… shooting… obviously…”

Though you were here with your boyfriend, you still felt self-conscious. You could be competitive sometimes and you aimed to win this match of laser tag. Through your anxiety, you had some sort of bravery. You were pretty sure you could win against him, but you would have to be clever. You would have to be careful. There was nothing stopping you from winning though.

The air felt chilly, and smelled musty. The long, tinted, windows at the top of the walls shed some light into the arena. Everything was dim inside and you could barely make out the looming walls ahead of you. You took a deep breath and then walked into the room.

The ceiling peaked high above you, making the arena look larger. It was just you and Adam playing. Somehow he had managed to convince the owner to let you get a private game. You were thankful for that because it meant that you wouldn’t have anyone else to judge you. Not to mention, you would have Adam all to yourself, and there would be no competitors.

You rounded one of the corners, holding the laser up, searching the darkness for movement. There was nothing that you could see, and you flounced into the hallway. You were isolated, but you felt like you were being watched. Adam was so perfect at everything, you didn’t doubt that he was watching.

You walked to the end, which was split into a T. Halfheartedly, you turned left, staying close to the wall. Your boyfriend was somewhere in here, but it disconcerted you that you couldn’t see him. Being away from Adam made you feel slightly concerned. You wanted to be as close to him as possible just for the reassurance that you were not alone. However you knew that for the purpose of the game you were supposed to stay away from each other.

Now you could see half walls surrounding yourself in a semicircle, with a wide open entrance leading back into the arena. The arena was oval shaped and stretched far, far, out of your vision. There were a few half walls spread throughout the arena. You hung back nervously, scanning the darkness.

I can win this, you told yourself firmly. I just have to sneak up. How the hell am I going to do that? I have a boyfriend who’s paranoia is as sensitive as a bat’s hearing.

You crept out of the cover of your hideout, and spun around dizzily, trying to catch everything in the corners. Nothing spoke out to you, but this was a giant arena, seeing as it was supposed to hold ten people and not two.

A shuffle was heard to the right, and you spun around. No one else was here, so that meant Adam was close by, right? Unsatisfyingly - and very anticlimactically - you felt the headband buzz once. You grunted, as you saw a light flicker off on your watch. Now it was showing two red lights, not three.

Shit. I’ve been shot! You couldn’t believe someone was shooting at you. Where the hell was Adam? He was the only person capable of doing so when there wasn’t anyone else in the room. I still have two lives left though.

As if on cue, there was another buzz, and then another light flashed off on the watch. You stared at your wrist in disappointment, then looked around. On a platform, standing rigidly, with a laser gun pointed steadily at you, was your beloved boyfriend. He appeared smug and relaxed. He tried to shoot again but you sidestepped. In a huff, you said, “How was that fair?”

Adam leapt down majestically, landing on his feet amazingly. You gaped at him in awe. “Want to finish face to face?”

“I was going to win…” You mumbled sadly.

Adam stared at you, then raised his hands above his head. “You still can.”

“But I don’t want you to LET me win.”

Adam raised an eyebrow at you, lowering his hands back down. “You mean, like how you let me win?”

“I didn’t LET you win,” you snapped. “You snuck up on me… Which I was trying to do…”

Adam scoffed. “Right. You were trying to sneak up on YOURSELF?”

“N-No. I meant I was sneaking up on YOU,” you gasped, flustered.

Adam looked at you, unimpressed. “Cute.”

You glared at him indignantly, and raised up your laser. You aimed and shot. Adam let you shoot him. His headband flashed, and then only two lives were remaining. You scowled at him. “This isn’t what I had in mind when I suggested we play laser tag.”

Adam leaned in, so that his nose was practically touching yours. “What did you have in mind? That I waltz right into your line of sight? Clearly we know who DOES do that.”

You gazed down. “I had no way of knowing you were there.”

Adam lifted your head up with his pointer finger. “Don’t feel bad, Y/N. It’s just a game. We can play another one when we get home…” he winked at you, backing away. “You can win that one…”

You felt warm at his words. They held a slight… excitement…

You looked into his eyes shyly, grumbling. “But… that’s not fair, Adam…”

“Let’s see if you can last, then. Can you take the rest of my lives? I could win this game perfectly well right now.”

You squeaked, holding up your laser gun. Your hands were shaking, causing the front of your gun to be unsteady. Carefully, you thought.

Nervously, you adjusted your aim on the gun. You missed Adam only because he dodged. It was his turn, and you felt your heart sink. He was totally going to destroy you. He had lined up a good shot, though you had made a point to sit down behind one of the half walls. Hopefully it would be harder for him to hit you if you were behind something.

You crawled to the left of the wall, Adam would be looking at the right side. You lined up a shot, and took it. Adam’s headband flashed wildly.

Adam turned towards you instinctively. He fired a shot at you, but you ducked, and rolled to the side. You waited a moment, before leaping up and firing at Adam. Your laser beam sliced across the air, but didn’t quite connect with Adam. You saw Adam aiming a shot to your left, and you waited for the last second to dive into one of the hallways. You started crawling silently on your hands and knees, trying to navigate your way around the black corridor.

Two to two… I can do this! We both have one life remaining now.

You crept slowly up the hallway, until you had to face Adam again. You had followed the hall up onto a platform. Adam was waiting at the bottom, he was trying to keep tabs on you, but you had outsmarted him this time. He was spinning clumsily in the middle of the arena. The corridor continued again at the other side of the platform, which was open to the arena. You would have to run for it.

“That was well played, Y/N. I’ve lost you.” There was an amused tone in Adam’s voice.

You stayed there quietly, hiding from your boyfriend. You knew he was faster than you, so you didn’t want to reveal yourself too quickly, but Adam was making his way up the stairs on the other side of you. You didn’t have long before he found you, at that point you would be defeated. Hastily, you made a beeline across the platform, your shoes alerting Adam to yourself.

He stopped, turned around, and stayed on the ground. There was a series of rapid fire between the two of you for a few moments. Adam kept nearly getting hits off you, but you would dodge them narrowly by jumping or rolling. No matter how hard you tried, all your shots never quite made it close to hitting him. You were unhappy with this state of affairs. Your heart was hammering at the end.

Neither of you made a hit, and Adam ended up disappearing into a dark hall, much to your confusion.

“Adam! Where are you going?” You called out. You sat down behind the wall, and stared after him, keeping watch of the arena. You were not dumb enough to follow him. That would just lead to an instant loss. But Adam didn’t return to the main arena. You were baffled. What was he doing? The fight was being held right here.

The arena remained empty for a long time. You started to get impatient, and restless. You were half tempted to leap down and reveal yourself just so you could see Adam again. But the other half wanted to stay put. You were going to win this battle. You were, not Adam!

I can do this, you thought confidently. If I try hard enough.

But the longer you waited the more unnerved you became. Adam wouldn’t leave you like that, would he? What the hell was happening right now? You were playing a game of laser tag, not Hide’n’Seek!

Gloomily, you turned back around. “Adam?” You called out quietly. “Adam, did you leave me?”

As you turned, you heard Adam say from right behind you, “Hi, baby.” Your hair stood on end, and you raised your hands up. Adam gave you a flirtatious smile, and you melted. “Look where I’ve got you.”

You hummed out happily.

“And don’t even think about that. I would never leave you all alone. Come one, baby, you’re smarter than that.”

Adam leaned his head down to yours and you sank down, trying to get out of the heat. But Adam kissed you roughly on your lips. You pushed your elbows into the hard metal ground, and leaned up to him. His lips were warm and soft. He wasn’t kissing you all that hard; he knew how to get you worked up. You moaned into his mouth desperately. Adam shoved you further into the metal floor, overpowering you entirely. You dropped your weapon, and wrapped your arms around his neck. “Adam…” you mumbled around his lips. Adam pulled away just as it was getting intense. He liked doing that.

“Hmm? You like this?”

You nodded weakly from underneath him.

Adam looked at your form, then grinned at you. “Why don’t we finish this at home?”

You pulled Adam down. “No… Keep going…”

Adam frowned at you in disapproval. “I’m sorry, Y/N, but does this laser tag arena look like our bedroom to you?”

You whimpered, getting the point that he was making.

Adam kissed you again. He caressed your cheek with his free hand, then took the gun with his other. You felt him place the point of his laser gun onto your chest, and you flattened yourself to the floor. This was it. This was how you lost.

Your headband buzzed and your watch flashed out. You groaned as Adam pulled away. Your mouth tingled with the feeling of his mouth on yours, and your body could feel his weight on top of you. You stared dizzily at Adam as he walked away.

You huffed, and staggered to your feet, tripping after your boyfriend. Adam was already out the door, and you followed him slowly. You handed your laser tag gear to the man waiting at the door. You could see the monitors on the wall, overlooking the arena. The security guard had a look of disgust on his face, but he didn’t complain to you as you left the room. He’d had to watch that.

Adam was outside, waiting. He scooped you up immediately as you came out. You looked at him dishearteningly, wrapping your legs around his waist. “What?” You asked timidly. You were very disappointed with the results of this laser tag game.

“You played really well in there,” Adam complimented seductively.

You blushed, and looked away. You didn’t know where he was going with this. “Thank you?”

Adam seemed to like your shyness. He nuzzled your nose with his. “Want to play another game when we get home?”

His breath drifted across your face, and you couldn’t look at him. “What… What kind of game?” You inquired apprehensively.

“You don’t need to ask THAT,” Adam purred softly. “You can win this one, easy.”

“What game, Adam?”

“Come with me,” Adam said casually, nodding his head towards the car.

Your heart fluttered at his words, and you finally started to get the message. His way of being vague to get his point across was so hot… “Oh, Adam… you don’t mean it like THAT?”

Adam lifted his mouth to your ear. “Try me,” he whispered playfully.

You shivered. This man knew how to play with your feelings. Fuck! “L-Let’s go home.”

Adam narrowed his eyes on you. “Be good for me, okay?” He commanded you enticingly. “And you can win this time.”

You struggled in Adam’s grasp, feeling dirty. “Okay. Okay…”

Adam dropped you to your feet, and guided you back to the car. He was whispering things in your ear, and it made you feel good.

What’s going to happen at home? You wondered. Adam was driving this time, and you looked over at him. His hands were on the steering wheel, and his face was calm as he took you home. The later events that were coming up were not meant for outdoors. But you did not discover this until Adam was ushering you into the bedroom, and closing the door behind himself. While no more details could be supplied, there was one thing that could be assumed: You were definitely the one being dominated, and Adam wouldn’t have it any other way.

Characters Types

Protagonist:

The Protagonist is the main character of your story. They are the most mentioned, the one who drives the plot, the one the readers will be paying most of their attention to. Generally, there is only one, but there can be more than one protagonist in a story.

Antagonist:

The Antagonist is the character that goes against the Protagonist. An Antagonist doesn’t have to be a person, necessarily. It can be a group of people, society, nature, et cetera. They don’t even have to be evil, they just need to go against the Protagonist’s motives.

Villain:

Both the Villain and the Antagonist are opponents of the Protagonist. Though, the main difference is the Villain has bad intentions. They are evil.

Dynamic Character:

A Dynamic Character is the person who undergoes a change throughout the story, whether it be good or bad. The character’s motives or morals are different than they were in the beginning. The change is normally permanent.

Flat or Static Character:

A Flat or Static Character is the opposite of a Dynamic Character, hardly experiencing any changes throughout the story, if at all. Generally, the reader doesn’t know much about this character.

If you have any questions regarding character types, or feel as though I’ve missed something, feel free to let me know!

Character-driven vs Plot-driven Stories

What is a Character-driven story?

Character-driven stories gravitate toward intra and interpersonal relationships with the characters.  Unlike a plot-driven story, these types of stories focus on how the character(s) arrives at a choice.

Readers tend to enjoy these types of stories because of the realistic characters authors write in those books. It allows the reader to see themselves or others in those characters, developing an emotional connection.

What is a Plot-driven story?

A Plot-driven story gravitates toward the external rather than the internal conflict. Unlike a character-driven story, these types of stories focus on the choice a character must make rather than what they do to get there.

Readers tend to enjoy these types of stories because of the well-constructed plot. Seeing a character in a situation they cannot control may provide a sense of purpose or familiarity for the reader.

(This is something my friend said she likes about plot-driven stories. It may be true for other readers, as well.)

Which is best?

I’m going to let you in on a little secret. There is no such thing as the “best” way to write a story. It all depends on preference.

If you want to write a story for an audience who will analyze your characters, write for that audience. If you want a story for an audience who will gravitate toward your well-constructed plot, write for that audience.

There is somebody out there who will love your book, I guarantee.

If you have any questions, or feel as though I’ve missed something, feel free to let me know!

Plots

What is a plot?

A plot is the chain of events that make up the story in a book, movie, TV show, and the like. A plot generally consists of five major points: Exposition, Rising Action, Climax, Falling Action, and Resolution/ Denouement.

Exposition:

This is the beginning of the story. Here, the reader is introduced to the setting, the characters, and the main conflict.

Rising Action:

This is where the story starts to get complicated. The conflict begins to escalate to a much bigger issue.

Climax:

This is the middle of the story. The characters may be panicking, as the conflict has reached its peak.

Falling Action:

By this point of the book, the characters may have thought of a solution to the issue and are implementing it. The story begins to cool down.

Resolution/Denouement:

This is the end of the story. The story is at a stopping point, the main issue resolved. If you’re writing a series, this may be where you would add the extra bit of information that leads into the next book.

What is a subplot?

A subplot is a plot that exists inside the main plot. An example being a group of characters working together to reach a concrete goal, but romantic tension existing between the two main characters at the same time - the subplot.

These are the only two I felt needed some clarification. If you have any questions, or feel as though I’ve missed something, feel free to let me know!

Genres

What is a genre?

A genre is a category that your story belongs to based on form, style, or subject matter.

Action/Adventure

Your book belongs to this genre if your characters are on a quest or journey to reach a concrete goal. Take The Lighting Thief  by Rick Riordan. The goal is to return the lighting bolt to Zeus before summer solstice, or there will be war.

Fantasy

Your book belongs to this genre if the world in your story has a type of magic system, or includes mythical creatures. Think of Dragons, Centaurs, Pixie dust, et cetera.

Mystery

Your book belongs to this genre if the story centers around a question(Who, What, Where, Why, and How). Think of Criminal Minds, Mondays Not Coming, Lucifer, etc.

Romance

Your book belongs to this genre if your story centers around the romantic relationship of two or more characters. Think of Five Feet Apart, To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before, Love, Simon, etc.

(Keep in mind, your story can belong to more than one genre. There are no limitations.)

If anyone has any questions, or feels as though I’ve left something out, feel free to let me know!

A handful of my posts are from a period of my life when I aspired to be a novelist. I will not delete those posts, so feel free to scroll if you're curious.

My desire for writing has not wavered, but my career path has changed. I still have so much I want to talk about and so much I wish to share with whoever wants to listen.

It appears I am afraid of my success, the supposed inevitability of it. A piece of me finds comfort in the version of myself that settles into practicality. Why must I grow to achieve?
