Moon Illuminates

Moon Illuminates

Moon illuminates

Your face in all its chaos

My heart is enthralled

Forgotten all its sorrows

I tried to think since when

Weirdness turned into a friend

Words gushed out like stream

Like they have never been

Enslaved underneath

A stone cold flesh

Suppressed shrieks

Of a heart barely beating

Time may have heard it

As we sat silently waiting

For drizzles to stop

Our worlds suddenly interlapped

Caught in a whirlpool of dreams

A quest each night star screams

I wonder how it came to be

A friendship of you and me

Bizarre as it may seem

A flower in spring it bloomed

Your smile feels like home

Eyes speak of long, lost songs

And if daylight ever crumbles

I swear to remember the bubbles

Of thoughts we shared that night

As our souls bathed in starlight!

It's ironic how I love you so much while you, you can't even recognize me from the sea of faces looking up to you. The crowd shouts your name; my voice is swallowed by the cacophony. You didn't hear my call. You passed me by without glancing at all. Yet I am glad. I would like you to know I am glad. Everyone admires you; regarded as a gift. That should hold me for a while. You're a Haley's comet; my Haley's comet.

And me? I am the shooting star who fell to make your dream come true.

While it's painful to fall from such a height to end up unrecognized by your heart, I am willing to do it a thousandfold to fulfill even your wildest desire. All in the name of the love you traded with the admiration of the crazed crowd.

-Fall a thousandfold,

(I'll just behold you from afar)

Ours is not a romance. It is a tragedy. History made it so. Not to tell a lesson. But to make people feel...feel something. Love is not always good for the heart. It is not always butterflies in the stomach, or a bouquet of freshly picked roses. It is a game that we have to play sometimes. Even though the rules are not always fair and you have to die a death you don't deserve to give life to the other. You can't complain. Nor file an appeal. That's not how it works. For the jury, it doesn't always give its verdict in favor of the hopeless romantic. The judge passes your sentence with the pound of his gavel. And the next thing you know, you're being thrown in a faraway dungeon. No, it is not a romance at all. History has its own messy twists, don't you think? And love...it is not always blissful. So if you have to drink from that cup, make sure you are capable of enduring unspeakable things. For that's the essense of everything love has ever put forth for the sake of its own godly name.

-Love isn't always good for the hopeless romantic,
