Thoughts about Neverending Story remake

Having heard they're making a remake to Neverending Story I've had a lot of thoughts about how they should do it. You know, what things need to happen to make it good

I say this as a big fan of the original book

While I know there's a lot you can't bring into an adaptation, especially from a book as wild as this, but I feel we could return to the original description of The Nothing

In the movie, The Nothing is depicted as a black and consuming storm. Or according to some, the storm is only there to represent the invisible Nothing, which is still cheating

In the book The Nothing has no color, has no shape, has no tangible presence, no storm clouds to reveal itself. Those who step into it suffer no pain, only cease. And on page 24, as The Tiny says, "when you look at the place, it's as if you were blind."

Making it not invisible either, as some say, but rather something that not a single character within the story can truly describe

Think how all who see Hyde recognize him as being horribly disturbed, despite there being no physical flaws they can point out

Obviously there's nothing they can really do to create that kind of Nothing on film, especially no amount of bad cgi, so what then should be done? That's what I've been thinking about

The best thing to do is keep The Nothing off camera entirely, always just out of our view. With that all we have to go off of is descriptions through dialogue, which many of the characters talk about in the book. Now The Nothing isn't just black clouds, but the terrifying and lovecraftian doom to Fantastica(oh btw, it's Fantastica, they changed the name in the movie) like it always was to so many of the fantasy worlds residents

And because, as everyone who remembers the drowning horse knows, Neverending Story is supposed to be down. So this works imo

They want a one to one, copy and paste, unoriginal piece of bullshit.

So I guess I'm making another post about the things I want from a Never Ending Sorry adaptation, but will sadly never get

Once again, we need to return to the original name of Fantastica. They changed the name when making it the first time to make it sound more "Disney" and that's dumb. You can't go changing the name of a stories world, that would be like renaming Middle-Earth

Once again, we can not see The Nothing in the new adaptation. It is not a black and imposing storm. Neither is it accompanied by one. It is absence, it is nothing, and looking upon it gives you a sense of blindness

A new one, I think doing a Never Ending Story movie like a Terry Pratchett miniseries would be immensely fun. Like The Color of Magic or The Hogfather. I just think it would be fun, and would help explain aspects of the story that had to get dropped in the previous adaptation

In case it was not already clear. The adaptation can not be like the original Disney movie, or like any of its sequels. It needs to be more like the original book. I'm not the most sure how that can happen, maybe it should be a show(a real show with 24 episodes) instead of a movie, but it needs to happen

Good film, I watched it twice soooo I must’ve liked it.

Am I the only person who wants/NEEDS more films/series from Kim Da Mi?! Like she is literally such an amazing and versatile actress and I’m not basing this just off of Itaewon class, she crushed it in The Witch!

She truly has that Star quality about her, and I love her poise and confidence that comes off when you watch bts footage of her!

AND like working with Choi Woo Shik AND Park Seo Joon... like damn girl, you already know she’s running the show.

I totally get the sentiment here, like the mc movie does not look good and Jack Black is very worthy of criticism but no critique of anything will ever be funnier than the phrase “white zionist steve”

Alright so cold take, the Minecraft Movie looks fucking horrendous. It looks like a parody or an advert, not an actual movie people would want to make or watch.

Many others have said the same thing, but why the fuck isn't it an animated movie?? There are so many beautiful fucking art pieces made by fans or just look at the official Minecraft concept art!!

The world of Minecraft is so pretty and you could have so much artistic freedom to make a really fucking cool stylistic animated movie!!

But no.. We get white zionist Steve and in general just an irl cast for some reason, and ugly ass CGI.

Why can't it follow the minimal story Minecraft already has? The main character, whether it be Steve or someone else, wakes up with no explanation as to how they got there, and they juat have to survive. Minecraft has all these mysteries baked into the different worlds and structures, it would be so cool to have the movie explore them in some way!

I'm assuming this movie will just be "Hey, I'm white zionist Steve and I'll help you guys get back to your world" and the main content of the movie is gonna be the group of people experiencing Minecraft things, that we've already seen and know everything about, for the first time.

Idk man. I think people should boycott the movie because of the zionist in the main role and I don't think that'll be too difficult. Thanks if you read the whole thing <3

Watching Deadpool for the first time.

So far, the sex scenes are the only ones that have made me uncomfortable. The humor is right up my alley, though.

I'll probably be back at the end of the movie to speak more.

My friend just got home, so we gotta pause for a bit.

Change of plans. He doesn't wanna watch Deadpool, so we'll come back another day.

It's his TV and his apartment, so I'm not gonna say anything.

Change of plans! My sister needs to edit a video and my friend (her roommate) needs to record one. So, they're both letting me continue my movie.

I won't get to watch the second one, though, so that'll have be another time.

Again, I'll be back in about 57 minutes to give my report.

Third change of plans, we played a game instead. I might get to watch the movie. If not here, then I'll have to wait until next paycheck to buy it.

Update! June 14

I've finally caught up to where I was last time! I didn't buy a copy, but I am house sitting for my sister and her roommate. They've given me free rein while they go camping this weekend, that includes streaming services. So, I'm finally watching Deadpool without being interrupted.

I still don't like the sex scenes, but the sex jokes and innuendos are funny.

Back at the end of the movie with more thoughts, maybe.

Again, the nudity was not my favorite and I would've preferred to have a warning for that, but I mostly expected it going into the movie.

Love the fourth wall breaks. I will never not love Deadpool fourth wall breaks.

The show rn is Heartstopper.

To put it flat, and don't hate me, I don't like it.

I don't normally like RomComs or romance centered media in general (though I do make exceptions sometimes) so that's already turned it off for me. And the fact that it was pitched to me as not having a good plot? No thank you.

Having said that, this is my friend's place and he likes the show. I'm not gonna stop him from watching what he wants in his own home.

Though, I am a bit frustrated that I can't watch what I'd like to. I was told several times that I could, and I started the movie several times, but it was interrupted every time to play a game or watch something else real fast.

Again, it's his and my sister's place, so I'm not gonna complain. I'll just silently stew.

Back to the topic: I don't like Heartstopper for several reasons. I don't think I'll ever like it. I don't plan on watching it on my own, actually.

Please don't even try to change my mind on this.

I'm watching Deadpool 2 now!

all movie plots that revolve around "we have to rescue the president" have been ruined for me i mean it's just super unrealistic anyone will care

I don't want much. I just want someone to figure out the best setting on an iron for making grilled cheese. I just want someone to talk to about how it's terrible to make mascots of food that encourage people to eat that food. I just want someone who's as invested in all my stupid thoughts as I am. I just want a relationship like Sam and Joon.

I miss so much the fantastic movies from early the 2000s. You know; like the Arthur and the Minimoys, Bridge of Terrabithia, Journey to the Center of the Earth, and Spiderwick Chronicles,... All of these, it was so nice and magical to me. They weren't the best movies in the world, but they had this thing, this magic that is hard to find now.
