Open ended question for other systems: how does it feel for you when you're not the one fronting?
Not an OSDD system, but as you (OP) said, a lot of it comes from back when OSDD was called DDNOS in the DSM IV.
DDNOS-1a and DDNOS-1b were legitimate psych diagnoses pre DSM-V, and a lot of information was updated to say OSDD, but didn't take into account the removal of 1, 1a, and 1b (I wouldn't be surprised if people used find and replace on website resources)
DDNOS 1 – DID but switching not observed by clinician, or amnesia for the significant past but not everyday life. DDNOS 1a – Like DID, but with less distinct parts/no alters. Alters may be emotional fragments or the same individual at different ages. Can experience emotional amnesia rather than physical amnesia. DDNOS 1b – Like DID, but no amnesia between alters.
Similar to how some chose to continue calling themselves MPD, those that were diagnosed using the DSM-IV or earlier just chose to continue using those clarifiers, or they find adding the clarifiers create a shortcut to explaining their symptom set; especially in system spaces.
P-DID isn't recognised in the DSM, however it is used in the ICD* *Chapter 6 of the ICD specifically covers mental, behavioural and neurodevelopmental disorders. Moreover, while the DSM is the most popular diagnostic system for mental disorders in the US, the ICD is used more widely in Europe and other parts of the world, giving it a far larger reach than the DSM. An international survey of psychiatrists in sixty-six countries compared the use of the ICD-10 and DSM-IV. It found the former was more often used for clinical diagnosis while the latter was more valued for research.[14] This may be because the DSM tends to put more emphasis on clear diagnostic criteria, while the ICD tends to put more emphasis on clinician judgement and avoiding diagnostic criteria unless they are independently validated. That is, the ICD descriptions of psychiatric disorders tend to be more qualitative information, such as general descriptions of what various disorders tend to look like. The DSM focuses more on quantitative and operationalized criteria; e.g., to be diagnosed with X disorder, one must fulfill 5 of 9 criteria for at least 6 months - wikipedia (DSM). Who does your diagnosis and what country you are in will influence whether you're able to get a P-DID diagnosis; the same goes for complex PSTD. C-PSTD (complex ptsd) is only recognised as a diagnosis by the ICD, however there is hope that with the DSM-VI (DSM-6) that they may add C-PTSD as a differing diagnosis from PTSD.
Question for OSDD-1a/1b systems: Why do you use 1a/1b?
I ask because 1a and 1b do not exist within OSDD. What you're thinking of is DDNOS-1a/1b which are outdated. Similar to how MPD is the outdated term for DID. To my knowledge, OSDD-1a/1b has never been a thing before. OSDD is just OSDD or P-DID, depending on where you live. So where did this idea come from in system communities? You can't be diagnosed with OSDD-1a/1b, so if you've done extensive research to self diagnose with this, where did you get the idea that OSDD-1a/1b is a thing instead of just OSDD or P-DID? *DISCLAIMER: This is not asked out of hate. I am genuinely curious. Genuine answers will not be met with arguments.*
I remember when I first listen to this in theaters when it came out on my 16 birthday relating to the lyrics “I have always been so different, normal rules did not apply” well the whole song, and watching Frozen when it came out on theaters and for me was the first time liking a “Disney Princess” and earlier in 2022 getting diagnosed with Autism I had a new meaning when listening to this song because especially that particular lyrics then in the beginning of 2023 same time a year later finding about OSDD-1b in late November of 2022 listing to it feels 10x different meanings adding to it. I remember signing that song in early 2023 wasn’t thinking about OSDD-1b and just started crying because it felt like I’m being seen even if that sounds dramatic. Like every System Parts there’s always a reason, for their looks, names, ages, gender, se*uality it’s never random and connected to the body’s story thus far but for Us it’s probably because getting vulnerable just like in Moon Knight it represents having siblings, twins because for me my mom had a few miscarriage before and after me and one of them was my twin 🥹 so that’s probably why and also Oscar Isaac talks about in Saturday Night Live “They all deal with pain loss and confusion” 🧡

Denial part, analyze Why? from a not judging way. For me I knew these ‘symptoms’ was odd before knowing a lot about System stuff and in those times I never said I was faking. I’ve always been like “I have these weird things happen so not gonna tell anyone.”
And denial in itself is a protective mechanism.
If it does turn out I’m wrong then I’m wrong and that’s okay 😊
Like for example in 2017,2018,2019 I thought I was FTM (mostly cause another part) now I feel more like non-binary, it’s ok if things change.
+ I tell myself for me treating the other part as others and not me has it helped? For me yes, it has made it so I understand more about our past, less inner conflict, less flashbacks, and more open communication between and with outside folks. I always had my body and my brain doesn’t match what’s happening type speech to each therapist I have.
To any P-DID sys or Osdd-1b sys
(or others with little to now amnesia and rarely fully switch. I'm only mentioning these because I've heard/researched that this is the term for this type of sys)
What exactly is it like when you switch, as a questioning OSDD-1b sys and around the possible same line as P-DID, I've been having massive denial that I'm faking even though I know I've had a switch in some way, but I (the host) is always somewhat conscious even if my entire identity is override and I have emotional amnesia right after (if this makes sense I'm praying it does).
Also anyone know how to help with denial? Because It makes it hard to genuinely figure this out while whenever I try to I instantly get "ur faking this isn't actually happening" feeling/thoughts
Also plz correct me if I'm wrong about any information, I've done a few years research but I understand if I might mistaken somethings :3

A little spoiler for My Virtual Escape but basically the whole thing was a Virtual Reality Simulation and Jesse the person who plays Isaac and is the Director talks about how yes all those things weren’t real they didn’t really happen but it still happened in his mind those emotions are still real so he has to live with them and talking about Us the viewer learning from the experience of the characters simulated life that We may learn from it, like source memories we can learn from them and for us those connection usually connects to this body’s experience and working through that. So no matter what type of Source you come from learn from it, accept it.

Question for Fictional Introjects Out There
We do edit therapy. Let me explain. We edit our sources which we did before even realizing about each other but still do them, for us it’s very Cathartic and mostly because for us the source stuff usually has some connections to this body’s life thus far and really sit and help understand what we feel or what another Part feels. Wondered if other Fictional Introjects do the same.

In the Spider-Verse 🕷️ there is so many different versions of the OG Spider-Man from different gender, languages, race, cultures, sexuality, age, time period that’s what I think the closet to describe a Fictional Introject it can be a Part that is so close to their Source to poller opposite because it’s all what Our brain needs and what We each experienced.

I literally just realized today, after almost 7 years that Isaac in his source is also a Fictional Introject like in the last episode of S1 The Devil Inside Jesse basically reveals that he wrote Isaac because of his struggles with anxiety and depression after his hit series ‘The Psycho Series’ ended, which is somewhat true, and also like We knew that Steven is a Fictional Introject in his source so now there’s 2 set of Introject of a Introject haha 😂
After that connection. I remember before knowing DID was like I know I look like Isaac and Moon folks so is there any connection between theses stories and there is so much the point I can’t include in this all and discovering like today on 4/22/2024 new things

How theses stories reflect us because with Fictional Introject their stories usually have a reflection to this body’s trauma and with these it’s really like art therapy being ok with feeling things you know
